Emma Raducanu has shared her advice for fellow British sensation Arthur Fery, who has captivated Wimbledon with his remarkable semi-final run. The 23-year-old, ranked No. 114 globally, began the tournament as a 500-1 long shot but has become the first British wildcard to reach a Grand Slam singles semi-final in the Open Era.
Fery's Stunning Run at Wimbledon
Fery, born in France to French parents and raised in south-west London from the age of one month, has defied his youth and lack of experience. He defeated three-time Grand Slam semi-finalist Grigor Dimitrov and No. 9 seed Flavio Cobolli in straight sets during the quarter-finals. He is only the second wildcard player to reach the last four at Wimbledon, following Croatia's Goran Ivanisevic, who won the trophy in 2001.
Raducanu's Words of Wisdom
Emma Raducanu, who transformed into a worldwide phenomenon after winning the US Open as a qualifier in 2021, understands the pressure Fery faces. At 18 and ranked No. 150, Raducanu won 10 straight matches without dropping a set in New York. She told the WTA website: "The biggest thing is that I never once got ahead of myself. For three weeks I just played the opponent in front of me. I took care of what I wanted to try and achieve on that day against that opponent and just repeated it for three weeks."
Upcoming Semi-Final Showdown
Fery will face French Open champion Alexander Zverev on Centre Court on Friday afternoon. The other semi-final features Jannik Sinner against Novak Djokovic. Raducanu, the current British No. 1, missed this year's Wimbledon due to injury but offered her insights to help Fery stay focused as he aims for his first Grand Slam title.
