Will Mellor: Prince William Broke Up My Club Fight
Prince William Broke Up My Club Fight, Says Will Mellor

Actor Will Mellor has revealed that Prince William once stepped in to break up an altercation in a nightclub, after a group of partygoers allegedly knocked him off his crutches on purpose.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star, known for Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, described the encounter on Fearne Cotton's Happy Place podcast. He explained that a friend had invited him to a club, but he was initially reluctant to attend because he was using crutches and taking medication at the time.

A Night Out Takes an Unexpected Turn

Despite his hesitation, the 50-year-old decided to go, only to be astonished when he spotted Prince William in the toilets. Mellor speculated that the royal recognised him from Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, calling the moment "madness."

Recalling the evening, he said: "The night went on and I had a few more drinks and I went, 'I'm going on the dance floor on me crutches', I was throwing a few shapes."

The Fight and the Royal Intervention

According to Mellor, events took an unpleasant turn when he became involved in an altercation with a group of partygoers he described as "upper class" and "posh."

"They thought it was funny to shoulder barge me off my crutches and laughing at me basically," he said. "And I didn't find that funny, so once I got up, I dived on this lad and he's on the floor and I'm fighting with this lad on the floor, and then I've got these hands on my shoulders picking me up and I'm sort of doing what I'm doing, and then I hear this person go, 'Leave it Will, he's not worth it' and it was Prince William!"

Security Steps In

Mellor claimed the Prince placed his hands on his shoulders in an attempt to break up the fight, before the royal's security team became involved. He recalled William looking him in the eye and saying, "Leave it Will he's not worth it," to which Mellor responded, "He's knocked me off my crutches!"

While being escorted out of the venue, Mellor shouted: "Tell them William, it's not my fault! They pushed me over'. Anyway, they're carrying me out and I'm still shouting, 'William, tell them it wasn't my fault' and he's going, 'It's all right don't worry about it'."

Reflecting on the bizarre encounter, Mellor said a friend later called him to share his own recollection of the incident. "The funny thing is I go home and my mate calls me and goes, I'll never forget seeing Prince William with his hands on your shoulders going, 'Leave it Will, he's not worth it. Like, he was one of your mates'."
