Prince Harry Uses Full Royal Name in Podcast Teaser: Henry Charles Albert David
Prince Harry Uses Full Royal Name in Podcast Teaser

Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, surprised listeners by using his full royal name and title in a teaser for an upcoming podcast episode. The 41-year-old prince, who stepped back from royal duties in 2020, appeared on the British comedy podcast Joe Marler Will See You Now, which will air at 5pm on Monday.

Full Name Revealed

In the teaser, host Joe Marler, a retired English rugby player, asked Harry to introduce himself. Smiling, the prince responded: “Henry Charles Albert David, Duke of Sussex.” The lengthy name drew a laugh from co-host Jake Bhardwaj, who remarked, “It’s a long one.” Harry good-naturedly replied, “Alright, ‘Jake’.”

Rare Use of Formal Title

Hearing Harry use his full name is unusual, as he is commonly known as Prince Harry or simply the Duke of Sussex. He often omits his royal title in informal settings. The title Duke of Sussex was bestowed by Queen Elizabeth II on his wedding day to Meghan Markle in 2018. Meghan retains the title Duchess of Sussex. Despite their departure from royal life in 2020, the titles remain, as removing them requires an act of Parliament.
