Prince Harry has revealed the reason behind his return to Britain in a new interview with GQ's One More Question series, published on the same day as the state visit of the Sultan of Oman in Windsor.
The Duke of Sussex spoke about growing up with grief, his relationship with the press and the Royal Family, and taking control of his public profile.
Harry explains his changed attitude
Discussing why he, Meghan Markle, and their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet return to the UK, Harry said: "I think that certainly, our attitude has changed. I think once you've been through it, once you've been able to talk about it, and raise awareness of it, then people see it for what it is; it makes the environment slightly easier."
He added: "It's not going to necessarily stop the behaviour, but I think the behaviour might—my hope that it will—change."
Reflecting on the past six years
Harry continued: "What happened back then was then. What's happened over the last six years has been a continuation of that. Some battles that had been fought—and necessarily so."
He said: "With everything else that's going on in the world, there are aspects of the past that I'm sure all of us—me, my family, and some of the British press—would like to leave behind us and work for the greater good."
State visit in Windsor
Earlier in the day, the King, the Queen and the Prince and Princess of Wales welcomed Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said to Windsor for his state visit. The Sultan was greeted outside Windsor and Eton Riverside station amid autumn downpours, and the visit will conclude with a state banquet at Windsor Castle.
