Prince Harry and Prince William “will never reconcile”, according to royal expert Russell Myers. Appearing on the ITV chat show Loose Women, The Mirror’s royal editor stated that the brothers remain estranged, with no prospect of mending their relationship.
Myers explained that the Duke of Sussex and the Prince of Wales have not been on speaking terms for an extended period. The breakdown in communication stems from Harry’s repeated criticisms of the Royal Family after stepping back from royal duties. Key moments include the 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview, the 2022 Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan, and his 2023 memoir Spare. According to Myers, the memoir was the final straw for William.
No Reconciliation in Sight
When asked about the brothers’ relationship on Loose Women, Myers said: “Make no mistake that their relationship is the worst it's ever been and I see no chance of a reconciliation.” He added that William is “deeply hurt” by everything Harry has said about the Firm. “William, Catherine and other members of the Royal Family feel deeply hurt by everything Harry has said in the past about the Firm.”
Prince Harry is due to visit the UK next week, but Myers believes the trip will not lead to a meeting between the brothers. William is unlikely to see Harry, Meghan Markle, or their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, during their return.
Possible Reconciliation with King Charles
While the sibling rift appears irreparable, Harry may reconcile with his father, King Charles. Despite a sometimes difficult relationship, the father and son have stayed in touch, last meeting in September. They are expected to meet again during Harry’s upcoming UK trip. Myers noted: “We’ve seen Harry speaking about wanting a reconciliation with his father, and there is a willingness from both sides to fix their relationship.”
The royal expert’s comments underscore the deep divisions within the Royal Family, with Harry’s public disclosures continuing to strain bonds that may never be restored.
