Prince Harry Addresses Hair Loss, Denies Being Ginger

Prince Harry has spoken candidly about his famous ginger hair – or not ginger hair, as he now insists. The Duke of Sussex, 41, who was in the UK last week, appeared on Joe Marler's podcast Joe Marler Will See You Now where he discussed his personal appearance.

Alongside addressing several serious matters, Harry also touched upon lighter topics such as his hair. When asked what people most commonly misunderstand about him, he said it was the colour of his hair.

Harry Clarifies Hair Colour

He clarified: "Yeah, people think I'm ginger, but I'm more sort of like sunset, like Auburn. Yeah. I don't know why that's funny... Unless you want to call me ginge, you know, I got bullied a lot at school. It's called Carrot Top."

Harry also mentioned his beard after Joe, a former professional rugby player, complimented it. Harry replied: "I trim my beard every sort of five, six days just to keep it a little bit tidy. Nothing really happening on top. I get a haircut otherwise I try not to look at what's happening."

Meeting with King Charles

Prince Harry's appearance on Marler's podcast preceded a meeting with his father King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove last week, reports the Daily Star. It marked the first occasion the monarch had seen his grandchildren, Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, since Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.

Buckingham Palace confirmed the meeting had taken place and described it as a "private family occasion". No photographs, if any were captured, of the meeting were made available to the public.

Using Sport for Mental Health

During the same conversation with the rugby star, Harry also discussed how he utilised sport as a means to help him manage negative feelings. He stated: "Exercise, sport and being able to find the time to take yourself somewhere, do something – repetition is great, have a routine. Boxing, another thing that I really enjoy, just to let the aggression out, get a sweat on, to me it's always about getting a sweat on."

Scotty's Little Soldiers Visit

Beyond the podcast, Harry also attended the Scotty's Little Soldiers summer festival. The occasion, at Maxstoke Castle in Warwickshire, took place less than 48 hours following his reunion with his father. At the gathering, for a charity that supports bereaved military children, Harry participated in a brief question and answer session with the youngsters. Harry has collaborated with the charity since 2017 and became an ambassador for them in 2023.

One of the youngsters was observed asking Harry whether he does anything to commemorate his mother's death. Harry's mother Princess Diana died in a car accident in Paris on 31 August 1997. In reply, he stated: "Yes, we do lemon drizzle cake. I think traditions are really, really important, especially when they're sweet."
