Channel 5 newsreader Dani Sinha faced criticism after being caught on live television rolling her eyes during a segment announcing the death of legendary singer Bonnie Tyler at age 75. The incident occurred after Sinha made several errors in her report, including misnaming Tyler's iconic hit 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' as 'Total of Eclipse.'
Blunders During Broadcast
Sinha, who has been with Channel 5 for 11 years, appeared visibly exasperated as the segment cut back to her after a clip of Tyler performing the 1983 track. Viewers quickly noticed the eye roll and took to social media to express their displeasure. Some suggested she was let down by technology, while others condemned her behavior as unprofessional.
One viewer wrote: 'She's reacting to shambolic tech support.' Another commented: 'It was the fact they gave the wrong song title and then played the line from her song 'now I'm falling apart' to fade out to, that was the eye roll.' A third added: 'Unprofessional. You don't do that in front of a live camera which could cut back to you at any time ... especially when announcing a death.'
Bonnie Tyler's Passing
Bonnie Tyler, known for her husky voice and hits like 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' and 'Holding Out for a Hero,' died in Portugal weeks after being placed in an induced coma following emergency intestinal surgery. A statement on her website confirmed: 'Bonnie's family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for.'
Last month, a spokesperson revealed she had emerged from the coma but remained 'very unwell and in intensive care.' Tyler is survived by her husband Robert Sullivan, an Olympian, whom she married in 1973. The couple had no children.
