Natalie Portman has offered fans a window into her life in Paris, France, more than a decade after departing the United States. The 44-year-old Oscar-winning actress, who is currently expecting her third child, posted a series of new photographs on her Instagram account on Thursday.
Parisian Adventures
'Paris lately,' the actress captioned the carousel of images, which chronicled her recent exploits. The post began with a fresh-faced selfie in front of the River Seine, followed by a moody nighttime shot capturing her blurry silhouette beside a blue light. She also shared sweet snapshots of her dog, a floral bouquet, several famous artworks, and a photo of a Malayan tapir.
Portman relocated to Paris in 2014 with her then-husband, choreographer Benjamin Millepied, 48, after he accepted a position with the Paris Opera Ballet. In recent years, Hollywood has seemingly lost its allure, with numerous celebrities trading the United States for France—a trend so pronounced that the European country is now being dubbed 'Frollywood.'
Celebrity Exodus to France
Notable figures such as Angelina Jolie, Pamela Anderson, and George Clooney have also made the move. Clooney and his wife Amal even applied for French citizenship last year, citing a better quality of life for their eight-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander. 'They have a much better life,' Clooney shared. 'I was worried about raising our kids in L.A., in the culture of Hollywood. France—they kind of don't give a damn about fame.'
Personal Life Changes
Portman and Millepied separated in 2023 and finalized their divorce in 2024, following reports of his affair with climate activist Camille Etienne. The couple share two children: son Aleph, 14, and daughter Amalia, nine. Portman has since moved on with French music producer Tanguy Destable, 45, with whom she is expecting her third child. Destable has two sons—Etienne, born in April 2016, and Vadim, born in 2020—from his previous relationship with French actress Louise Bourgoin.
Portman announced her pregnancy last month, telling Harper's Bazaar, 'Tanguy and I are very excited. I'm just very grateful. I know it's such a privilege and a miracle.' She added, 'I grew up hearing about how hard it is to get pregnant. I have so many people I love who've had such a hard time with it that I want to be respectful around that as well. It's such a beautiful, joyous thing, and it's also not an easy thing.'
Privacy and Family Life
The actress has previously praised the privacy that living in Paris affords. She does not allow her children to be in the public eye, telling Interview magazine, 'I'm not a particularly private person in real life—I'll tell you anything—but in public, it was so clear early on that if you tell people how private you are, your privacy gets respected a lot more.'
Portman was last seen at an event in January, posing with Jenna Ortega and Charli XCX at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. Reflecting on her current state, she told Harper's Bazaar, 'There is a gratitude that when you're young, you don't necessarily grasp. And there's a calm and knowing myself: who I want to spend time with, what kind of energy I want around me that makes the experience so beautiful every day.' She added that she feels good and has more energy than expected, swimming and doing gyrotonics to stay strong. She also cherishes time with her children, calling it 'always the best.'
