Meghan Markle's Netflix 'safety net' gone, TV comeback at risk

The Duchess of Sussex is reportedly facing a major television setback as her anticipated acting comeback hangs in the balance, with experts warning her crucial Netflix "safety net" has disappeared. Meghan Markle is reportedly no longer in talks to star in Guy Ritchie's hit Netflix series The Gentlemen.

Pals close to Meghan told The Telegraph she was "used to help promote" the show, accusing the streaming giant of leaking her potential involvement as a cheap PR stunt. A source close to Netflix fiercely hit back at the claims, telling The Times: "This is not a show in need of stunt casting."

Expert warns of shaky ground

An expert has warned that Meghan's relationship with Netflix is on increasingly shaky ground, threatening to derail her grand Hollywood return before it begins. British broadcaster Helena Chard told Fox News: "Harry and Meghan's champion inside Netflix, Bela Bajaria, has recently left the streaming service."

"The previous safety net is gone. Unfortunately for Meghan, she may want to jump straight into a top acting role, but there is far more stacked against it happening," Chard added.

Broader royal developments

In related royal news, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet "should get royal protection," according to veteran royal photographer Arthur Edwards. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex relocated back to the UK with their two children in August, and the children started a new life at a British school.

Speaking of the ongoing debate over whether the couple should receive police protection now that they are living back in the UK, Edwards said he thinks the young royals deserve protection. As well as referring to Archie and Lilibet, now aged seven and five, as "a prince and princess of the House of Windsor," he said: "What were they doing in Montecito going to an American school, when they should be here playing with their cousins?"

Meanwhile, King Charles has been urged by Brits not to attend a major event with Prince Harry next year. In a poll by The Daily Express, readers were asked: "Should King Charles attend next year's Invictus Games?" The poll, which ran from 7am on October 24 to 7am on October 28, saw 94% vote no, showing they do not want the monarch to attend. Only 5% said they wanted the King to attend, while 1% said they don't know.
