Love Island's Sam Bird secretly welcomes first child

Love Island star Sam Bird has secretly welcomed his first child with his wife, Kailah Casillas, surprising fans with the announcement in a joint social media post.

Reality TV Romance

Sam Bird appeared on the ITV reality dating series in 2018, joining the show on day 18 and remaining in the villa until day 47. During his time on the island, the Norwich native explored romances with Samira Mighty and Ellie J. His longest partnership in the villa was with Georgia Steele, with whom he exited just days before Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham won the series.

Sam and Georgia's romance continued after leaving the villa, with the pair posing together on various red carpets. However, their relationship ended three months after filming concluded.

Wedding in Gibraltar

In 2020, Sam announced his engagement to Kailah Casillas after just eight months of dating. Kailah is also a reality TV personality, having taken part on The Challenge. Announcing their engagement, Kailah said on Instagram at the time: "I'm marrying my favorite person in the world."

Two years later, the couple eloped to Gibraltar, once again surprising fans with the news. Speaking about their wedding, Kailah said: "We eloped. I never dreamt of having a big wedding. So we decided to take a trip to Gibraltar and do it the most intimate way possible, just us. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you." Sam added: "Tied the knot in Gibraltar and vlogged the whole trip, link in bio to watch."

Sonny Bird Arrives

Returning to Instagram on Sunday (November 1), Sam and Kailah revealed in a joint post that they welcomed their first child together. The post included a video of Kailah finding out she was pregnant. Revealing their son's name, they captioned the post: "Welcome to the nest, Sonny Bird."

Because the couple kept the pregnancy completely under wraps, the comments section of their post saw their famous friends expressing shock and offering congratulations. Geordie Shore's Kyle Christie said: "Congratulations you two." Chelsey Amaro added: "ARE YOU KIDDING MEEEEEE, CONGRATULATIONS!!" Other comments included @siannfitness writing: "Congratulations, your life is about to begin," and @derrickmtv posting: "Yassssss!!!
