Former Love Island contestant Tommy Murphy has disclosed the method producers use to ensure bombshells do not witness everything unfolding in the villa before they enter.
Murphy entered the latest series of the dating programme as a late arrival and quickly made his presence felt when he ignited a romance with viewer favourite Ellie Chadwick. His adventure concluded just weeks before the finale, following his split from Ellie and his pursuit of other romantic possibilities.
It emerges the Geordie hunk had actually travelled to Majorca alongside the original contestants but remained in isolation for three weeks before eventually entering the villa.
What bombshells are allowed to watch
As one of the most memorable late entries from this series, Murphy has been sharing behind-the-scenes revelations, including precisely what the bombshells are permitted to view before joining the remaining cast, reports OK!.
He recently spoke with former Big Brother housemate Simon Gross and disclosed that the newcomers only view selected clips of the programme.
"You get an ITV link, which has got segments of the show," he explained on the Get Gossy with Grossy podcast. Murphy continued: "We're not allowed our own television. So we don't have a TV. No phone, no TV."
It is widely known the bombshells have restricted access to the outside world, yet fans frequently presume they are permitted to watch the show. However, Murphy maintains the late cast members do not observe everything that audiences at home witness.
Departure and reflection
The ITV star was given the boot alongside fellow newcomer Tina Rad, following the season's first public vote. They had garnered the fewest votes from viewers, compared to four other Islanders.
Fan favourites Ellie and Lorenzo Alessi were then handed the power to evict one lad and lass, and they selected Murphy and Tina. Upon his departure, 28-year-old Murphy characterised his stint on the show as "a roller coaster".
He told ITV at the time: "It was up and down, I enjoyed every moment of it but there were moments I upset people or moments where I maybe did a bit too much exploring...but my verdict on it is I went in there and was myself."
"It was one of the best opportunities. These things are a lesson in life - everything you get offered, take it with both hands. Life's too short, so enjoy every moment."
Love Island Season 13 is available to stream on ITVX.
