Stacey Solomon is joining ITV's The Masked Singer as part of a brand-new team of celebrity detectives, offering her the opportunity to demonstrate her guessing abilities alongside new panellist Alan Carr.
The former X Factor star and presenter will become part of Alan's freshly formed "Wild Cards" squad who will compete against the programme's established panel as they try to uncover the identities of the famous personalities performing behind the elaborate costumes.
New panel rivalry for eighth series
The original panel includes Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan, Maya Jama and Jonathan Ross - who will now be called 'Legends' in the upcoming eighth series. They will compete against Alan's new recruits to determine who can accurately identify the celebrities concealed beneath the costumes.
ITV has not yet disclosed the remaining names joining Alan and Stacey on the Wild Cards squad, leaving numerous questions about the revamped format unanswered.
Alan Carr's announcement
On Friday, July 31, ITV revealed on social media that Celebrity Traitors winner Alan would be joining the series. Wearing a vibrant pink suit with mirror decals over the lapel, he revealed himself and declared: "It's me, Alan Carr. I'm sick and tired of watching that panel make terrible guesses.
"I've been Red Panda. I've been Teeth - I don't know why they thought of me," he joked, referencing his past appearances on the show. Alan went on to say: "I'm joining the panel and I'm going to bring something that they desperately need - intelligence."
"Watch out Jonathan, Maya, Davina, and Mo - because I'm bringing my own detectives to rival yours. And we're not here to play. We're here to win." Alan described his new role as a "dream come true." He continued: "I can't wait to play detective - so excited to be shouting 'take it off' in the actual studio rather than on my settee at home."
ITV's Katie Rawcliffe added: "We are thrilled to welcome Alan Carr to The Masked Singer. His wit and energy are the perfect addition to our new 'rival panel', and we can't wait for viewers to see the sparks fly."
Stacey Solomon's excitement
For Stacey, the role holds special significance as she has disclosed that both she and her family are devoted viewers of the show. Stacey said in a statement: "I'm so excited to be joining Alan Carr's team on The Masked Singer.
"Me and my family have been huge fans of the show. We have the best time trying to guess who's behind the mask, so actually joining Alan's group of detectives and playing against the 'Legends' is a dream come true. I can't wait to start sleuthing and hopefully unmask a few more superstars!"
The Masked Singer will return for its eighth series in 2027 and will be available to watch on ITV1 and ITVX.
