Love Island star Angel Swift has spoken out about the 'unfair' lack of airtime her romance with boyfriend Ty Isherwood received on the ITV dating show, insisting she was not 'boring' as viewers assumed. Speaking exclusively to the Daily Star at SHEIN's VIP event in Ibiza, the 26-year-old revealed that producers cut key romantic moments, including a cinematic kiss in the rain, because their relationship lacked conflict.
Angel Swift Claims Producers Cut Romantic Scenes
Angel, who appeared on the show last year and is still dating Ty, said fans often thought she was 'boring' because so few of their moments made the final edit. 'People always thought I was boring because they barely showed me and Ty,' she said. 'I don't know why there was such a lack of airtime. It's not fair really, I thought we were really funny.'
One particular memory still frustrates her. 'There was this one time we were on the terrace and it was like our second kiss. It was pouring down with rain and we kissed. It was like a romantic film, and they didn't even air it. I was so annoyed!'
Why Their Romance Was Cut: 'Not Good TV'
Angel believes producers chose not to show their relationship because they got on well and didn't argue. 'None of our stuff got shown. I think it was because we genuinely got on and didn't argue, so it didn't make 'good TV' compared to the other couples.' While other couples made headlines for explosive rows and dramatic recouplings, Angel and Ty's stable relationship was sidelined.
Despite the lack of screen time, the couple remain together and often share loved-up updates on social media. Angel was recently a VIP guest at SHEIN's exclusive party at O Beach in Ibiza, where she wore a black and white polka dot bikini short set.
Angel Opens Up About 'Toe Thumbs'
At the event, Angel also revealed she has 'toe thumbs' – medically known as brachydactyly type D – a condition affecting about 1% of the population. 'I've got toe thumbs,' she joked. 'One per cent of the population's got it.' She noted that Hollywood actress Megan Fox and former Love Island star Megan Barton Hanson share the trait.
Reflecting on her time in the villa, Angel remains positive, even if she wishes fans had seen more of her real-life romance with Ty.
