Reality TV star Adam Collard has been jailed after a court heard the shocking details of a relentless and malicious stalking campaign he waged against his ex-girlfriend.
The former Love Island contestant, 28, was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison at Newcastle Crown Court after admitting to a charge of stalking involving serious alarm or distress. The victim was identified as Laura Armstrong, a mother-of-two and Collard's former partner.
The court was told that Collard's actions were not a momentary lapse in judgment but a sustained and calculated effort to torment Ms. Armstrong.
A Campaign of Fear and Intimidation
Collard's harassment included a torrent of abusive and threatening messages sent via social media. He also made numerous threatening phone calls, creating an atmosphere of constant fear for the victim.
In a particularly cruel twist, the reality star used his significant online platform—boasting over 1.1 million Instagram followers—to publicly smear and abuse Ms. Armstrong, amplifying her distress and humiliation.
Justice Served Behind Bars
In addition to the immediate prison sentence, District Judge Paul Currer issued a five-year restraining order, legally forbidding Collard from any contact with his victim. The judge condemned the actions as a 'persistent, deliberate, and targeted campaign' designed to cause maximum distress.
This case highlights the severe and very real consequences of online abuse and stalking, demonstrating that a high-profile social media status is no protection from the full force of the law.
