Love Is Blind UK bosses have revealed the one time they will step in on the show when it comes to the blind dates.
New season of Love Is Blind UK
Today (August 19), Netflix has released the first eight episodes of Love Is Blind UK season 3, following more hopeful singles who take the plunge to find 'the one'.
Promising "high drama, raw emotion and plenty of romance", viewers will witness the blind dates before contestants meet for the very first time as a synopsis states: "From behind a wall, they are all hoping to form a connection so deep that they're willing to put their hearts on the line by agreeing to marry without ever having seen each other."
Strict rules on physical descriptions
There are strict rules on the show though, as the contestants are not allowed to meet face to face until they decide to get engaged, taking their relationship to the next step. But in an effort to prove whether love really is blind, this means cast members are prohibited from talking about certain things whilst in the pods. On their dates, the cast can discuss things like their childhood and family dynamics as well as religious beliefs, marriage expectations and their own race.
They can also describe their hobbies and financial habits, but when it comes to describing their physical features, producers would step in.
Producers explain intervention policy
Contestants are told not to say what they look like, and that is for a very important reason. When asked whether cast are allowed to describe themselves and at what point would producers intervene, series editor David Cheesman said: "That's probably the only time we'd ever intervene during the Pod experiment because it's important to focus on forming a connection.
"However, they can talk about their heritage because that's really important to people. They can discuss things like tattoos if they have them but we discourage describing physical attributes and features."
Executive producer Nazleen Karim also added: "I've seen people online questioning whether talking about race is breaking the rules. But race isn't what you look like, it's who you are. Not being able to talk about your heritage would be denying the opportunity to talk about your family."
Love Is Blind UK can be streamed on Netflix.
