Lorraine Kelly shares update on mum Anne's health after hospital dash

Lorraine Kelly has shared a positive update on her mother Anne's health, one month after the 85-year-old suffered a bad fall that left her in hospital with a broken arm.

Speaking on Friday's instalment (October 23) of her daytime ITV show, the 66-year-old host told fashion journalist Mark Heyes: "She is out of hospital, she's doing great. Social care is fantastic, brilliant neighbours."

Gratitude for support

Lorraine went on to thank "everybody that's been rallying around" to support the family during the difficult period.

She added: "I'm heading back after this, I'm going to head back up. But she's very strong, Mark. She's very stoic. You know, she is, and she's doing great. So Mum, I will see you later."

Birthday in hospital

The update comes one month after Lorraine revealed her mother had spent her 85th birthday in hospital. Posting a photo with her parent on Instagram, the TV host wrote: "Happy 85th birthday to my mum."

She continued: "Sadly celebrating in hospital today after a bad fall resulted in broken arm. Saw her at weekend and she's getting well looked after. Hopefully back home with us soon."

The post was quickly flooded with messages of support as fans sent well-wishes to the family.

Return home

Earlier this week, a fresh post revealed the "great news" that Anne was back home. Sharing a picture of her mother on Monday, Lorraine wrote: "Mum getting home! Great news and huge thanks to all at Hairmyres hospital for making it happen."

She added: "Thanks also to friends family and fabulous neighbours who have been incredible and so helpful - and to all of you for your good wishes - much appreciated."

The update comes as Lorraine returns to host her ITV show after missing several episodes this week, with Loose Women star Christine Lampard stepping in to take over duties in the meantime.
