Liam Gallagher says he felt like he was "exorcising demons" during the Oasis reunion tour last year, according to the trailer for the documentary Oasis: Don't Look Back In Anger.
Trailer highlights reunion tensions
The promo opens with advertisements promoting the tour, which one newsreader says in a voiceover many people thought would "never happen". It then cuts to Liam referencing the band's 2009 split: "The way it finished, unacceptable. It didn't sit right with me, man."
His older brother Noel then says: "I just don't see myself on stage with Liam. I don't really want to be going back with the tension; will it fall apart again?"
Forgiveness and rage on stage
The two-minute trailer shows a priest giving a sermon about forgiveness, with Noel saying the long-awaited reunion is "one of the biggest moments in our lives". However, Liam then says: "I feel like I'm exercising demons getting it all out. Rage. Just pure anger... I need to calm the f*** down."
A montage shows fans at shows across the world, including in Wales, Brazil and Argentina. The brothers held hands as they walked on stage and are even shown kissing, indicating their relationship is back on track.
Brothers reflect on past conflicts
Addressing their past blow-ups, Liam says they both said "shit they didn't mean" in the past. He adds: "That's the way it is when you miss people." Noel then admits he "forgot" what his brother "means to people". "I certainly wasn't prepared for the intense outpouring (and) the sense of what it meant to people," he says. He is then heard saying they have a chance to "change the narrative of the band".
Documentary details and release
Oasis: Don't Look Back In Anger was created by Steven Knight and directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace. It will be released in cinemas on September 9, and later screened on Disney Plus. The streaming service has teased that the documentary follows the Gallaghers' "triumphant reunion tour".
The film will have its world premiere at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival next month. Festival artistic director Alberto Barbera previously said: "The two brothers who have not spoken to each other for 12 years that dissolved one of the most famous rock bands in England at the time, but after so many years they unexpectedly reconcile and they start rehearsing for the formidable world tour that would follow." He added: "The film follows the rehearsals and the tour and the impact of the tour on the fans of Oasis, who again can find their idols re-proposing the songs they loved so much, years before."
The Oasis reunion tour was announced in August 2024, 15 years after their dramatic split in 2009, which was prompted by a backstage brawl at the Rock en Seine festival in France. The band have had eight number one singles and albums each in the UK charts, with Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova and Some Might Say among their most well-known hits.
