Lee Andrews has reportedly been freed from the Dubai prison where he had been locked up for a month. It comes after Katie Price had tried to bring him home last week, but failed.
Katie, 48, has been desperately trying to get her husband Lee, 43, out of Dubai's notorious Al Awir prison ever since she learned he had been banged up there. After initial claims that he was being held on espionage charges, it later emerged that he was detained on a private, civil matter.
However, now it has been revealed that after a month behind bars, Lee has now been released from jail. This comes despite the fact he had to pay a fine of £140,000 to be released.
According to the Sun, pals of Katie confirmed that Lee had been set free by authorities in Dubai. In a short but clear statement, a source close to Katie confirmed: "Lee is out."
Further information regarding Lee's release is set to be revealed, but Katie has neither confirmed nor denied the news. Instead, she has been desperately trying to distance herself from the situation, admitting the debacle got "way too out of hand" in a recent podcast episode.
Lee's prison stint began when he failed to show up to an interview on Good Morning Britain with wife Katie last month. He had claimed he had tried to get on the plane to fly to the UK but was not allowed to board.
Despite claims that Lee had been slapped with a travel ban, barring him from leaving the country, Lee had always denied the allegations. However, questions soon arose when Lee went quiet for two weeks, sending no communication to Katie whatsoever.
Katie then believed her husband had been "kidnapped" and pleaded with people to find information that could lead to his release. However, after two weeks of silence, it was revealed that Lee had landed himself in prison.
On Thursday night (June 11), it was revealed that Lee had been talking up his relationships with the showbiz star to the various lags within Al Awir prison. This included notorious Irish gangland criminal Daniel Kinahan.
Sources from within the prison had claimed that Lee had been bragging about Katie giving him cash while he was in prison. However, this came in direct contrast to what Katie had previously said, insisting she would not give him a penny to get him out of prison.
Katie, however, did fly to Dubai to try and get Lee out of prison, turning to the courts and police stations across Dubai to get answers. However, she would later fly back to Gatwick Airport without her men – and her ring, which sparked rumours of a potential divorce.
Now, pals of the star have pleaded with her to break up with her husband and move past him. However, Katie has declared she still loves Lee, although the status of her marriage is still up in the air.
