Lee Andrews is reportedly bragging to fellow inmates in Dubai's Al Awir prison that his wife Katie Price will send him cash while he is incarcerated. This comes despite the former glamour model insisting she would not pay a penny towards his release.
Lee Andrews' Prison Claims
Andrews, 43, has been held in the notorious Al Awir prison for over three weeks after being detained while attempting to leave Dubai for the UK. He faces a fine of £140,000 to secure his release. Sources inside the prison claim Andrews has been mingling with gangsters and boasting about his connections to Price.
According to The Sun, Andrews has struck up a friendship with Irish mobster Daniel Kinahan, known for gangland shootings in Ireland. He allegedly claimed to have full conversations in Irish with Kinahan, despite barely speaking the language. However, an insider revealed the connection is not as strong as Andrews suggests: 'Daniel probably thinks he’s a total melt like some of us in here. But conversations pass the time, so you’ll talk to anyone. Any interactions between Lee and Daniel have been fleeting at most.'
Cash in Prison
Andrews has also reportedly boasted that Price would provide him with cash to survive in Al Awir. However, the source said it is unclear whether she followed through. Inmates can earn money by doing laundry or cleaning wings, which they can spend on luxuries. The prison also has a gym, kitchen, and social room with four televisions.
Price, 48, had previously insisted she would not give Andrews any money for his release, as he is held on a private civil matter. She flew to Dubai last week to try to free him, visiting courts and police stations, but eventually returned to Gatwick without him. Initially, she feared he had been kidnapped after not hearing from him for two weeks, but later learned he was in Al Awir. Speculation of espionage charges was dismissed by Dubai authorities.
