Russell Brand's wife Laura breaks silence on court media frenzy
Laura Brand speaks out on court media storm

Laura Brand has spoken out after accompanying her husband Russell Brand to court, describing the press pack gathering outside as having the feel of the "eye of a storm." In a video posted to her husband's X account in the early hours of Sunday morning (October 18), she gave an account of her experience facing photographers and reporters.

Addressing the 'mystery woman' label

During the broadcast, the couple addressed media reports that had described her simply as a "mystery woman in yellow," with Russell poking fun at the label given that the pair have been married for seven years. Opening up about stepping out in front of the assembled cameras, Laura explained how the intense atmosphere outside court felt strikingly quiet at its centre.

"I got nervous before going to court the other day," the 39-year-old said. "When you get out of car, there are people taking your picture - paparazzi, press, reporters, onlookers, even people stopping in the street - and they're suddenly swept up into a moment."

Comparing the scene to a storm

"I was just explaining to Russell about my fascination with storms. When there's the storm and it's drawing everything in from its surrounding...when it hits the land, the eye of the storm is absolutely silent," she said. "When we stood outside with the paparazzi the other day, it was silent. I'm talking about a weird, eerie feeling that you know it's going on, (but) it was silent. Nobody was talking."

Laura has been present at her husband's side as legal proceedings continue. In April 2025, police charged Russell Brand with three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault. The 51-year-old denies all allegations against him, and the court case remains ongoing.

Laura's background and family life

Despite the sudden focus on her presence outside court, Laura was no stranger to high-profile life long before her relationship with Brand. Born Laura Gallacher, the author and entrepreneur is the daughter of Scottish golfer and former Ryder Cup captain Bernard Gallacher, as well as the younger sister of TV presenter Kirsty Gallacher.

She grew up on the Wentworth Estate in Surrey, a neighbourhood previously home to stars like Sir Elton John and Sir Cliff Richard, and worked in restaurant and nightclub management before carving out a career as an author and illustrator. In 2020, she released The Joy Journal for Magical Everyday Play, a guide promoting creative play and mindfulness for parents and children, which developed into a lifestyle brand selling her own line of dungarees.

While she previously shared wellness advice and parenting tips online, she has since deactivated her main public social media pages. Laura and Russell briefly dated in 2007 before reconnecting several years later in 2015, following Brand's 2012 divorce from pop star Katy Perry. A chance encounter along an East London canal path brought the pair back together. The couple tied the knot in August 2017 at Remenham Church near Henley-on-Thames and have three children together. Late last year, the family relocated from their countryside home to a $1 million bungalow in Florida.
