The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to resume a busy public life in Britain, despite a high-profile visit to Nottingham last Thursday that echoed their first official royal walkabout in the city in 2017. Sources close to the couple say they are now navigating completely different professional priorities following their four-year hiatus from royal duties.
Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior working royals in 2020. Their last public appearance in Britain before this week was in 2022, when they attended the late Queen's funeral.
Different Professional Priorities
A source told The Telegraph: "Prince Harry's [focus] is his philanthropic work and public service. Her focus is on her family and children, followed by her business, followed by rebooting her acting career."
The Duchess is reportedly busy "reading a lot of scripts" and will only fit in charity work if her schedule allows. The source added: "She's not a working royal, her day isn't organised around a programme pulled together by a private secretary. She's a full-time mum and entrepreneur, and that alone takes up a lot of time and work."
Meghan's Business Plans
Meghan is preparing to launch her lifestyle brand, As Ever, in the UK, reportedly by the end of the year.
During Thursday's trip, she visited the Himmah community kitchen, where she met women affected by the Grenfell Tower fire, a reunion echoing her earlier work on the Hubb Community Kitchen cookbook. She also joined young girls in a bracelet-making workshop at the Community Recording Studio (CRS), focused on building confidence.
Harry's Philanthropic Work
Harry reconnected with youth mentor Jah Digga at the CRS, a grassroots charity the Duke recently supported with a £1.1 million personal donation via Children in Need. The couple ended the day meeting coaches and young people at the Epic Partners charity.
Despite the success of the visit, the Sussex camp has made clear that fans should not expect to see the couple teaming up for public duties regularly, warning that joint outings will only happen a "handful of times a year".
