Kelly Brook has said her seven-year relationship with Jason Statham "became a cliche" as his career took off, admitting she now prefers more sensitive men.
Speaking on Thursday's Loose Women (October 29), the ITV star discussed her past engagement to the actor, which ended in 2004. The pair had a 12-year age gap, with Kelly being 18 when they started their relationship.
Kelly Brook on Jason Statham's 'softer side'
The panel was debating whether they favoured gentler, emotionally available men such as Harry Styles, or traditional 'tough guys' like Jason Statham. Posing the question first to Kelly, given her history with the actor, she admitted to preferring more sensitive men nowadays. She said: "I think there was a time when I probably went more for the butch alpha."
When Kaye Adams enquired whether Jason had a softer side, Kelly responded: "I mean, I don't know him now! I don't know what he's like now. I do remember, when I met him, he'd just started acting, so I do remember thinking he was a very sporty guy, but there was this softer side."
She continued: "But, then I think as the success started coming in, definitely the more macho alpha, wanting the posh house and the car and the supermodel girlfriend, it all became a bit cliche for me. I was a bit like, 'Oh, you're into that, I didn't realise. I thought you were more into the arts'."
'Maybe he became his character'
When Kaye suggested he was feeling pressured to live up to the roles he was portraying, Kelly answered: "Maybe he became his character, and that's where it went wrong. Maybe that's what happened, but in the beginning, I thought there was a bit more of a softer edge."
During the conversation, Kelly also opened up about her husband Jeremy Parisi, whom she married in 2022 after first meeting in 2015. She told the Loose Women panel: "I do think my husband has a combination of both, though."

She went on to say: "He is a Judo fighter by trade, but he also doesn't mind putting the wash on, cooking dinner, or taking the dog out. He's definitely romantic, he's got a bit of a combination of all of it. I think if it's a bit one-dimensional, alpha male, it doesn't interest me."
Kelly has discussed her marriage to Jeremy on previous occasions, revealing how closely intertwined their lives are and the importance they place on spending quality time together, reports the Daily Star. When previously asked what would happen if work required her to travel, Kelly responded: "He would either come with me or I just wouldn't go. I would check in with him if I have a job – even coming on Loose today, I was like, 'Am I available?' My marriage is number one. It is the priority for me, and I'm very strict about it."
Loose Women is available to watch weekdays on ITV from 12:30pm.
