Naples airport to close all November for runway works

Naples Capodichino Airport will be closed for the whole of November 2026 while it undergoes a €30million (£25.1million) runway refurbishment, which will also provide the site with a second terminal for non-Schengen flights, including those from the UK.

The project will also bring a new nearby hotel, as well as more road links and underground connections. A message on the airport's website read: "Naples Airport will be closed in November 2026 for radical and scheduled runway renovation work, in compliance with rigorous industry regulations and in line with GESAC's priority commitment to ensuring the highest safety standards."

Flights diverted to Salerno

Several flights will be diverted to Salerno, and special bus and taxi services will be introduced to minimise disruption. The airport added: "Due to the closure of Naples Airport from 1 to 30 November 2026 for runway refurbishment works, some flights will be temporarily transferred to Salerno Costa d'Amalfi e del Cilento Airport, which will offer connections to 15 domestic and international destinations."

To facilitate passenger travel throughout November, the following transport services will be available: special bus services between Naples Piazza Garibaldi and Salerno Airport, in both directions; increased bus frequency between Salerno Airport and Salerno railway station; existing connections maintained to Potenza, Eboli, Battipaglia and the Amalfi Coast; and shared taxi services at fixed fares between Salerno Airport and the main railway stations in Naples and Salerno.

Domestic and international connections

Salerno Airport will offer the following domestic connections: Bergamo – Ryanair; Milan Malpensa – easyJet; Milan Linate – Aeroitalia and ITA Airways; Genoa, Turin and Trieste – Aeroitalia. The international connections during this period will include: Amsterdam – Transavia; Barcelona – Vueling; Casablanca – Air Arabia Maroc; Dubai – flydubai; Düsseldorf and Stuttgart – Eurowings; Madrid – Iberia; Paris – Transavia France; Sharm el-Sheikh – Air Cairo and Neos.

In 2025, more than 13.2million passengers travelled through Naples Capodichino Airport, with 89,275 movements (take-offs and landings). The airport offers 16 domestic connections and 112 international destinations, operated by 41 airlines.
