Kaye Adams Postpones Christmas After Partner's A&E Dash and BBC Bullying Probe
Kaye Adams' Christmas on hold after partner's health scare

Television presenter Kaye Adams has been forced to postpone her Christmas preparations following a health emergency involving her long-term partner and a bout of illness she blames on a hospital visit.

Health Scare Disrupts Festive Plans

The 62-year-old Loose Women host and BBC Radio Scotland star revealed on her 'How To Be 60' podcast that her weekend plans to put up the tree were "completely scuppered" after her partner of three decades, Ian Campbell, experienced chest pains. Adams described Campbell as "stupidly stoic," noting his unusual admission of discomfort prompted immediate action.

After checking his blood pressure, the couple headed to Accident and Emergency. "Oh my god that was an experience. Jeeeeeesus! It was like the ends of the earth," Adams recounted. While Ian received an ECG and blood tests relatively quickly, which returned fine results, the wait to see a doctor stretched into the early hours.

"At half past three in the morning, we're still sitting there in this little room with all these people," she said, describing the environment as rife with infection. "It was everywhere and you could just feel yourself getting ill." The pair eventually left before seeing a doctor, after asking triage if it was safe and learning the wait could continue for hours.

From Carer to Patient

In a cruel twist, it was Adams who fell severely ill following the A&E trip, likely with flu. "All the germs, sort of aching all over, shivering, just feeling like absolute death. I took to my bed, which is very very unlike me," she confessed. This double health blow led her to declare her Christmas plans officially "postponed."

She revealed Ian's Christmas present will be a full medical check-up, quipping: "It's better than a bloody shoehorn and a headband with a torch on it."

Professional Troubles Loom in Background

This personal crisis comes during a professionally difficult period for Adams. She is currently under investigation by the BBC following allegations of bullying junior staff members, which led to her removal from her position at BBC Scotland. The probe, initiated under the broadcaster's 'Call It Out' scheme, is examining her conduct "over a number of years."

Staff from her 15-year tenure at BBC Radio Scotland in Glasgow are being questioned. The investigation was reportedly launched after concerns about an alleged "shouting incident" during a debrief. Adams has denied this, stating: "I remember Ms Easton Riley standing at the back of a debrief meeting... but there was certainly no shouting on my part. It's not my style."

Amid the allegations, Adams shared a "pocket of joy" when two women, one a stranger, hugged her during a dog walk. "It was lovely," she said, adding jokingly of one, "She had lovely bosoms as well."

The presenter, who earns around £155,000 annually, also admitted struggling with the lack of structure since leaving her BBC role, calling herself a "champion faffer" without deadlines. She described a new, colder home life, where she and her dog Bee wear dressing gowns and go for walks to warm up to avoid turning the heating on before evening.
