Katie Price's husband, Lee Andrews, is reportedly pleading with her to help secure his release from a Dubai prison. Andrews is currently held at the notorious Al Awir jail, despite earlier reports suggesting he would be freed last week. Initially, it was believed that a four-figure sum would secure his release, but the actual cost has now emerged as a staggering £140,000.
Although Andrews claims to be a millionaire and potentially able to access the funds himself, he is now allegedly hoping his wife will intervene. However, Price has no intention of using her own money. Instead, Andrews has urged her to launch a GoFundMe campaign, asking the public to contribute towards his release. During a phone conversation, Price delivered a blunt response: 'No one will do that for you, Lee, trust me.' According to The Sun, she added, 'Everyone hates you.'
Conditions Inside Al Awir
Conditions inside Al Awir are widely known to be harsh, but Andrews has insisted to his wife that his experience is different. He claims to have struck up a friendship with Daniel Kinahan, one of the world's most wanted alleged criminals, who was apprehended in Dubai after a joint operation between Irish and UAE authorities. Andrews told Price that he shared dinner and breakfast with Kinahan, describing him as 'all right, actually.' He also alleges that the two converse in Gaelic to prevent prison guards from understanding their exchanges.
Relationship Under Strain
While Price continues to insist she is deeply in love with Andrews and has faith in him, she has acknowledged that their relationship may soon end. Andrews originally stated he was arrested on espionage charges, but it later emerged as a private civil dispute. For the first time, Price admitted she needs clarity from her husband. 'I need answers, and if I don't like the answers, I'll be gone,' she told the same newspaper over the weekend.
She continued: 'I'm 48. I don't need to waste my time. We get along really well and he's so intelligent ... As much as I want to listen to the women [his exes] and I'm really open-minded about it, I know what a good woman I am.' Price stressed she is 'protected' and 'taking notes,' cautioning fans not to view her as a 'mug.' She elaborated: 'There is no way he would mess with me, and in a way, I feel protected because I have the nation looking out for me. I'm not a mug, and when I finally see Lee, I am going to question him. And if the answers I get are not right, that will be it: I'll be done. That's it. And I'll just get on with my life... and not find a man on Instagram and message him.'
Public Opinion
Over the weekend, the former glamour model took to the stage at Canterbury Pride and posed a question to the audience about whether she should part ways with her husband. 'I want to hear it from you guys, do I leave Lee or stay with him?' she asked, prompting an immediate roar of approval from the crowd.
