The twists in Katie's relationship with Lee, who is currently detained in Dubai's Al Awir central prison on alleged fraud charges, have continued. Just days ago, she flew to Dubai in an attempt to secure his release, but sources claimed she was 'in pieces' and realised he was 'a chancer'. However, her latest social media post suggests she is still committed.
Lee vanished from Katie's life on May 13, standing her up live on Good Morning Britain. Katie initially claimed he had been kidnapped, but it later emerged he was arrested on suspicion of fraud. He remains in jail awaiting a reported £150,000 payment for his release, a sum that appears to fall on Katie's shoulders despite Lee's claims of being a billionaire entrepreneur.
Ring removal a stunt?
After Katie was photographed without her wedding and engagement rings at Gatwick Airport on Friday, a source told The Mirror that the removal was a deliberate stunt. 'She's only taken her ring off to fly back to create a story. She's not wearing the ring but she's not left him,' the source said. 'She knows she has to be seen to be doing the right thing. But she hasn't left him, she's very much into this marriage.'
Katie's change of heart comes despite mounting evidence of Lee's fraudulent past. Several women have accused him of scamming them, and his claims of business success have been exposed as lies. His ex-girlfriend Alana Percival has been vocal, urging Katie to 'run for the hills,' while another ex, Dina Taji, recently met with Katie to record a podcast episode.
Lee's history of controversy
Since marrying within days of meeting in January, Lee's past has plagued the relationship. He allegedly forged Dina's signature to take out a £200,000 mortgage in her name, leading to a prison sentence and a travel ban. Lee initially denied the ban but Katie later confirmed it exists. He has also been accused of misleading claims about being a multi-millionaire, with photos with celebrities later revealed to be AI-generated.
Despite these revelations, Katie visited the prison multiple times on her recent trip, though she reportedly did not see Lee in person. Lee assured her he could pay the fine, but Katie is said to realise she would have to foot the bill, a move described as 'reckless' given her previous bankruptcy.
The couple's future remains uncertain, but for now, Katie is standing by her man.
