Kate Ferdinand has described a “very scary night” at her family home in Dubai after Iranian missile strikes hit the region. The 34-year-old television personality, who moved to the United Arab Emirates last year with her husband, former England footballer Rio Ferdinand, and their children, said they are now safe.
Iran launched retaliatory attacks following a major US-Israeli operation that reportedly killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Missiles struck multiple locations across the Middle East, including Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait.
Ferdinand shared an update on Instagram, thanking followers for their messages. She wrote: “We are safe. The government are doing an amazing job of keeping it that way and despite my nerves I feel we are in very safe hands. We are hoping for a calmer evening tonight, last night was very scary.”
She added that her young children, Cree, five, and Shae, two, enjoyed the sleepover in the basement. “This whole experience is very eye opening and I am praying for anyone affected,” she said.
Other British celebrities in Dubai also recounted their experiences. Former Apprentice star Luisa Zissman described a “surreal and scary” day, saying explosions forced her family indoors. Former Love Island contestant Arabella Chi said the conflict “puts into perspective a lot of things” and reported hearing “petrifying” explosions near her home.
