Karren Brady has dismissed speculation about her appearance, describing commentary on women's bodies as 'demeaning'. The 56-year-old businesswoman and Conservative peer, known for her role on The Apprentice, addressed claims that she used weight-loss drugs like Ozempic.
Speaking to The Sun, Brady said: 'I’m not on Ozempic, but questions about women’s weight come up far more often than they should. I’d much prefer the conversation to be focused around my work.' She added that people often presume things about her body, but that it is her choice what she does with it.
Brady noted that she has been called 'too fat, too thin and everything in between' over her lifetime. She emphasised that she wants to feel 'strong, physically and mentally'. The mother-of-two also highlighted that women are frequently quizzed about their clothing choices in ways men are not, and now wears trainers to the House of Lords and the office, saying 'with comfort comes confidence'.
Brady, who became managing director of Birmingham City Football Club at age 23, often shares workout videos on social media. She has a routine focusing on cardiovascular exercise and weights, with occasional swimming. She previously revealed she tries to lose 5kg before each season of The Apprentice to avoid looking 'huge' next to Sir Alan Sugar, whom she describes as 'so fit and healthy'.
The Apprentice returns for its 20th anniversary on BBC One on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 9 PM. Brady attributed the show's enduring popularity to its authenticity, noting that there are 'no scripts and no retakes'. Away from work, she focuses on family with husband Paul Peschisolido and their two children, and enjoys being a grandmother to her daughter Sophia's two children.
