Harry Kane hits out at media over Tuchel-Bellingham 'division'
Kane slams media over Tuchel-Bellingham 'division'

Harry Kane has accused the media of attempting to 'create division' in the England camp ahead of their World Cup semi-final against Argentina. The Three Lions captain defended both manager Thomas Tuchel and midfielder Jude Bellingham after a perceived war of words following England's quarter-final victory over Norway.

England secured a hard-fought win against Norway to set up a clash with defending champions Argentina on Saturday evening. However, post-match comments from Tuchel and Bellingham sparked controversy. Tuchel claimed England were 'lucky' to win and criticised their performance. When those comments were put to Bellingham, he responded: 'Whatever. It's difficult out there,' adding, 'Maybe doesn't know what it's like to play in those conditions.'

Speaking to the BBC, Kane said: 'When you are playing a game like that and to be asked a question five minutes after the final whistle, and he [Bellingham] didn't really know what the manager has said, what do you want Jude to say? We had just been through a battle. It was really tough out there.'

Kane continued: 'It is easy to try and create this division - it seems like an English mentality, an English thing to do at these major tournaments. But it is the complete opposite. The group is where we are because of our togetherness - not just the players, the coach and the staff. Things sometimes get made out to be more than they are.'

England's semi-final opponent

Argentina advanced to the semi-finals after a dramatic extra-time win over Switzerland. Julian Alvarez put the South American side ahead in the 112th minute, and Lisandro Martinez sealed the victory in the 121st minute. England now face a tough test against the reigning champions, with Kane urging unity within the squad.
