Joe Lycett has appealed to Edinburgh fans to purchase tickets for his upcoming stand-up tour after revealing that sales in the city are struggling. The 38-year-old Celebrity Traitors star took to Instagram to address the issue ahead of his 2027/28 tour, titled 'Do You Really Lycett? Is It, Is It Wicked? We're Lovin' It, Lovin' It, Lovin' It, We're Lovin' It Lycett'.
Tour Dates and Venues
The tour is set to open at Newcastle's Tyne Theatre and Opera House on April 1, 2027, followed by performances across the country. Lycett's London schedule includes a run at the Eventim Apollo from June 30 to July 3, 2027, and appearances at Soho Theatre Walthamstow on November 18 and 19, 2027. He will also perform in his native Birmingham at the Hippodrome in June 2027 and at The Alexandra that November.
Other major stops include Dublin (Vicar St), Cardiff (New Theatre), Belfast (Waterfront Hall), and Manchester (Palace Theatre). In Edinburgh, Lycett is scheduled to appear at Edinburgh Playhouse from Thursday, May 20, 2027, to Saturday, May 22. He will also perform at Glasgow's King's Theatre on Thursday, January 13, 2028, and Friday, January 14.
Appeal to Fans
Lycett revealed that 'thousands' of tickets remain unsold for the Edinburgh dates and the tour in general, which continues through to February 2028. In a video posted on Instagram, he grinned at the camera while text overlay read, 'My management have asked me to make a video telling you that I'm going on tour in 2027/28, because Edinburgh is not selling well.'
The comedian acknowledged that 'some shows are sold out' but warned that Edinburgh 'has the potential to be very embarrassing'. He added further text stating, 'Please come to see me in Edinburgh,' alongside a screenshot showing a half-empty ticket venue. 'I have thousands of tickets to sell in Edinburgh,' he wrote.
His caption continued: "Could do with shifting a few in London, Hull and Bradford and all."
Fan Response
The post appeared to have the desired effect, going viral and accumulating more than 23,000 likes. One fan declared: "I'm sure everyone of your shows will sell out." Another responded: "I'm coming!" A third enthused: "I have tickets for Edinburgh! We are flying over to see you from Prague!" A fourth simply commented: "FINE. Sold."
Another person confessed: "Won't lie, didn't know you were playing Edinburgh but I do now." However, one person cautioned: "Oasis play that weekend in Scotland."
Tour Announcement and Celebrity Traitors
Lycett announced the tour on Instagram back in June, telling his 1.5 million followers: "Very excited to say I'm going back on tour, my first one since 2022". "It'll be silly and contain some jokes and stories," he added.
Lycett was among the most compelling contestants on this series of the BBC's Celebrity Traitors, though his approach eventually led to his departure. He remained a Faithful for the duration of his appearance on the programme, yet was desperate to join the Traitors. In contrast to most Faithfuls who fear recruitment, Lycett openly expressed his eagerness to switch allegiances to the Traitors' camp.
He candidly confessed his ambition was to "start as a faithful and end as a traitor". During his stint on the programme, he managed to help unmask two Traitors, while constantly attempting to straddle the divide between Faithful and Traitor, boldly campaigning for recruitment.
Facing increasing pressure and examination at the Round Table, Lycett accidentally made a telling remark while discussing the Traitors' recruitment strategies hypothetically, leading fellow participant James Blunt to observe that Lycett's phrasing made him appear remarkably like a Traitor. With suspicions intensifying that he had either changed sides or was purposefully undermining the game, the group voted decisively to banish him during Friday, October 16's episode.
Upon leaving the castle, Lycett revealed to his co-contestants that, notwithstanding his attempts to switch allegiances, he had actually remained a Faithful all along. Since leaving, he has called on producers to implement a rule change allowing a banished Faithful to be recruited as a Traitor.
