Antonio Conte has reportedly held talks with Manchester United about replacing Michael Carrick, with the Italian making two clear demands to the club's hierarchy.
The former Chelsea, Tottenham and Napoli boss has been repeatedly linked with a move to Old Trafford given the club's recent struggles. Carrick is under increased pressure to deliver results having won just two of their opening 11 games so far this season.
Conte's Conditions for Taking Over
According to La Repubblica, Conte has demanded full control over transfer activity, along with the authority to pick his own backroom staff. The report claims Conte wants the final say on how he builds his squad, identifying players who fit his tactical set-up.
Reports in Italy claim United have already held talks with Conte about replacing Carrick in the aftermath of the 4-1 defeat to Como in the Champions League. It's claimed that talks with Conte continued on Wednesday night, with the Italian already expressing a desire to United chiefs to return to the Premier League.
Carrick's Position Under Scrutiny
As things stand, Carrick is expected to take control of the clash with Bournemouth this weekend, though reports claim the club have contacted prospective replacements if they decide to part company with the 45-year-old. The Red Devils boss is set to face the music on Friday at his press conference before the match.
Speaking after the defeat to Como, Carrick said: "Listen, I've not given my own position any thought. [My thoughts are] for the supporters – I was one of them watching that and I wasn't happy at all."
United's Shortlist and Internal Disagreement
United reportedly have a shortlist of managers drawn up, with Conte among the names on that list, though Jason Wilcox and Christopher Vivell reportedly don't agree on who should replace Carrick. The latter of the duo is said to favour Julian Nagelsmann, while Wilcox wants a Premier League proven manager, with Eddie Howe, Fabian Hurzeler, Unai Emery and Conte on his shortlist.
It's claimed that United's hierarchy are currently deciding whether or not to accept Conte's demands, with results set to decide whether or not they part company with Carrick.
