Jesy Nelson's twins back in hospital after SMA diagnosis

Jesy Nelson's twin daughters are back in hospital. The Little Mix singer's children, Ocean and Story, have not had the easiest start in life and the youngsters are now back in the care of medical professionals.

Back in January, Jesy revealed that her daughters were diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) type 1. She recently shared a picture of the pair tucked up together in a hospital bed.

One of her daughters wore a bright yellow all-in-one outfit with a fluffy brown bear suit on top as she held a green dummy to her mouth. Jesy's second daughter wore a grey and white striped t-shirt and was covered with a matching star print blanket. Both of the twins have full heads of curly brown hair.

The news comes soon after Jesy's new documentary Jesy Nelson: Life Changing was released back in July. The synopsis reads: "This raw and powerful documentary follows Jesy as she comes to terms with what the diagnosis means for her girls, adapts to the everyday challenges of their conditions, and finds her footing as a single mother after the break up of her relationship."

Documentary highlights screening campaign

"But this is far more than a personal story. Jesy channels her experience into a campaign to change how the UK screens newborns for the disease." "It's a portrait of motherhood, resilience and the fierce determination that comes from knowing that a simple change in the system can save lives."

The show is available to stream on Prime Video and Jesy took to Instagram to share a clip with her followers, in addition to an emotional message. She implored "everyone to watch the documentary" and confessed that it's "the most heart-breaking series" she's ever created.

Jesy continued: "This is only a small glimpse into what my girls have to go through every single day. It's the reality that so many children born with SMA have to endure and this is only the beginning of their lives."
