Hollywood icon Jane Fonda continued to elevate fashion standards at the Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday night. After walking the red carpet on Tuesday, the 88-year-old actress returned to the scene to celebrate her 20-year partnership with L'Oreal.
Fonda, who has been an ambassador for the brand since 2006, showcased her age-defying appearance. She cut a chic figure in a fitted white blazer embellished with beaded detailing, complemented by gold heels that added height.
The screen legend has maintained one of the longest-running partnerships with L'Oreal and is frequently the face of their Age Perfect skincare line, designed for mature skin. During the evening, she delivered a speech before hosting a dinner with fellow ambassador Gong Li.
The Chinese actress marked three decades with the brand, having served as a global ambassador since 1997.
Fonda's Tribute to Ted Turner
Fonda's trip to Cannes comes just days after the death of her ex-husband, Ted Turner. The Oscar winner, who was married to the CNN founder from 1991 to 2001, had earlier shared a moving tribute on social media following his death at age 87 on May 6.
Remembering him as "deeply romantic and swashbuckling," she praised his "brilliant mind" and "vulnerability" while reflecting on their complex decade-long marriage. A cause of death was not disclosed, though Turner had previously battled Lewy body dementia.
Red Carpet Glamour
Despite her personal loss, Fonda arrived at the Palais des Festivals looking every inch the screen legend, flashing her trademark megawatt smile. She wore a floor-length black sequined gown, embodying Old Hollywood glamour.
She shared the red carpet with fellow Hollywood icon Dame Joan Collins, who looked sensational in a white gown paired with a diamond necklace and black gloves.
Other attendees included Aja Naomi King, Alia Bhatt, Charlotte Cardin, Yasmine Sabri, Heidi Klum, Araya Hargate, and Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu.
Fonda dazzled at the 79th Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony on Tuesday, making a striking public appearance just six days after Turner's death.
Elsewhere in Cannes, Gillian Anderson arrived for the premiere of A Woman's Life, catching the eye in a pale pink dress with dazzling beads, accessorised with a silver handbag and rose gold heels.
Fonda's Heartfelt Words
In her tribute to Turner, Fonda wrote in part: "MY IMMEDIATE THOUGHTS ABOUT TED. He swept into my life, a gloriously handsome, deeply romantic, swashbuckling pirate and I’ve never been the same."
"He needed me. No one had ever let me know they needed me, and this wasn’t your average human being that needed me, this was the creator of CNN, and Ted Classic Movies, who had won the America’s Cup as the world’s greatest sailor. He had a big life, a brilliant mind and a soaring sense of humor."
"He could also take care of me. That was new as well. To be needed and cared for simultaneously is transformative."
"Ted Turner helped me believe in myself," she continued. "He gave me confidence. I think I did the same for him, but that’s what women are raised to do. Men like Ted aren’t supposed to express need and vulnerability. That was Ted’s greatest strength, I believe."
