Comedian Jack Whitehall has left fans in stitches after confessing he's never actually learned to drive – despite pretending for years that he could.
The 35-year-old funnyman made the surprising revelation during a recent appearance, admitting he'd been bluffing his way through conversations about driving for ages.
The Great Driving Deception
"I've been lying about being able to drive my whole adult life," Whitehall confessed. "I've just been nodding along in conversations about cars and driving for years."
The star explained he'd managed to maintain the ruse by always having plausible excuses for not driving in any given situation, from claiming to have had a drink to blaming a fictional parking restriction.
Why the Long-Term Lie?
Whitehall revealed his motivation for the deception stemmed from embarrassment about not having mastered what many consider a basic adult skill.
"It's just one of those things I never got round to," he admitted. "Then the longer it went on, the more awkward it became to admit the truth."
The comedian joked that he'd reached the point where getting a licence now would be "admitting defeat" after maintaining the pretence for so long.
Celebrity Reactions
Fans and fellow celebrities have found the admission both shocking and hilarious, with many taking to social media to share their amusement.
One fan tweeted: "Only Jack Whitehall could make not being able to drive this entertaining!" while another wrote: "This explains so much about his comedy specials."
Whitehall, known for his self-deprecating humour, seems to have turned what could be an embarrassing revelation into yet another comedic goldmine.
