Jack P Shepherd 'still pinching himself' over waxwork honour

Coronation Street actor Jack P Shepherd has said he is 'still pinching himself' four years after being honoured with a wax figure at Madame Tussauds Blackpool, as he shared behind-the-scenes images with fans.

The actor, known for playing David Platt in the ITV soap filmed in Salford, was immortalised in wax in 2022. His figure joined iconic Coronation Street characters including Jack and Vera, Bet Lynch, Deirdre and Ken, and Michelle Connor at the attraction on Blackpool's promenade.

Seeing double with David Platt

After first seeing his wax figure, Shepherd said: "Seeing the figure face-to-face was incredibly surreal, it looks so much like me and really captures the essence of David Platt’s character! It’s a massive honour to have my figure appear alongside some of the Street’s most iconic characters and all of the other amazing figures at Madame Tussauds Blackpool."

To mark the fourth anniversary of the unveiling, Shepherd posted images and video clips on Instagram, including him selecting the figure's eye colour and seeing the completed figure for the first time. He wrote: "Still pinch myself that I’m in Madame Tussauds. It popped up on my memories, it’s been four years since my unveiling!"

Co-stars and fans react

Coronation Street co-star Catherine Tyldesley commented: "Omg that’s AMAZING!!!" while Claire Sweeney shared: "This is fabulous!!!"

Fans flooded the comments with selfies taken alongside the figure. @officialterrymounsey said: "We had words and agreed [crying laughing emoji]. We love you, and of course we love David and his hilarious one-liners."

Popular attraction

Janine Marshall, General Manager at Madame Tussauds Blackpool, said: "Our Coronation Street section is undoubtedly one of our most popular areas. Guests can snap a selfie with David Platt before strolling down the famous cobbles past The Kabin, meeting Jack and Vera Duckworth, and enjoying a drink in the Rovers Return with Bet Lynch, Deirdre and Ken Barlow, and Michelle Connor. It’s wonderful to see how much the figure still means to Jack. He remains one of our most photographed stars."
