Hugo Taylor has spoken of the 'considerable sadness' he has felt following the breakdown of his marriage to Millie Mackintosh, days after she went public with her new boyfriend. The former Made In Chelsea star, 40, addressed the split in an emotional statement, saying his priority is providing a stable home life for their two daughters, Sienna, six, and Aurelia, four.
Statement on the split
Taking to Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Hugo explained why he had stayed quiet about the divorce until now. 'I have refrained from making any personal public comment on the end of my marriage out of respect for our family's privacy and the importance of maintaining stability for our daughters during a period of significant change,' he wrote.
'While the past year has brought considerable sadness, I remain grateful for what matters most in my life. We share two wonderful young daughters, and my responsibility is to be the best father I can be, continuing to give them the love, security and consistency they deserve.' He added: 'I have been deeply moved by the kindness and support I have received from friends and family, and look to the future with faith and optimism.'
Millie's new relationship
The statement follows a cryptic Instagram post from Hugo last week, sharing a passage from JRR Tolkien's The Fellowship of the Ring: 'All that is gold does not glitter. Not all those who wander are lost. The old that is strong does not wither. Deep roots are not reached by the frost.'
Millie, 37, was first spotted with Matthew Tanner, 38, a Welsh fitness enthusiast and consultancy director, during a dog walk in Chelsea earlier this month. The pair were photographed holding hands before making their first public appearance together at the opening of Boodles' Old Bond Street flagship store last Thursday. Millie subsequently made their relationship Instagram official.
Her new partner, who goes by Matty, works as a Global Solutions Director and Programme Director at Robert Walters Consultancy. Outside work, he is a keen endurance athlete, having reportedly swapped amateur rugby for long-distance running after a knee injury in 2025. His Instagram details plans to compete in the Barcelona Marathon and London Backyard Ultra in 2027, followed by the Marathon des Sables in Morocco in 2028.
History and current focus
Millie reportedly joined celebrity dating app Raya over the summer. At the time, sources told the Daily Mail she was in no hurry for another serious relationship but keen to enjoy dating again. In her profile, she reportedly listed 'emotional intelligence' among qualities she finds attractive. It remains unclear how she and Matthew first met.
Hugo and Millie first began dating in 2011 after meeting on Made In Chelsea. Their initial relationship ended after six months when Hugo's infidelity with Millie's then-best friend Rosie Fortescue was exposed, leading to a scene in which Millie threw a drink over Hugo. Millie later married rapper Professor Green, real name Stephen Manderson, in 2013. After that marriage ended in 2016, she rekindled things with Hugo, and they married in 2018. Their daughters were born in 2020 and 2021.
In February this year, it emerged the marriage had ended, with the couple filing for divorce. Their daughters now divide their time between their parents' separate homes. While Millie has begun a new relationship, Hugo's statement suggests he is concentrating on fatherhood, making clear he is determined to approach the future with optimism.
