Heritage Live has cancelled its summer concert series at the Englefield Estate, Audley End Estate, and Sandringham Estate, citing “far lower than average ticket sales” and “general financial uncertainty.” The organiser announced the decision in a statement, expressing devastation at the outcome.
Acts Affected by the Cancellations
The lineup included major artists such as Janet Jackson, Christina Aguilera, Eric Clapton, Ricky Martin, and Lionel Richie at Sandringham; Scissor Sisters, Pete Tong, The Streets, and Faithless at Audley End; and Richard Ashcroft, UB40 Featuring Ali Campbell, and Ministry of Sound Classical at Englefield. Ricky Martin’s performance would have been his first UK show in a decade.
Reasons for Cancellation
According to the statement, the organisers had been working on securing an investment and equity package to offset a difficult year, but the deal fell through at the last minute. They noted that as one of the few remaining British independent promoters, competing with large multinationals has driven up supplier, artist, and staffing costs. The cost-of-living crisis and financial uncertainty led to several shows having far lower than average ticket sales, making it impossible to proceed responsibly.
Refund Information
Refunds will be processed via ticket agents including AXS Ticketing, Ticketmaster, See Tickets, Gigantic, Skiddle, and Ticketline. Ticket holders are advised to retain their transaction receipts. In many cases, refunds will be issued automatically within a reasonable period.
History and Impact
Heritage Live has hosted past performances by The Who, Sir Tom Jones, Sir Van Morrison, Mariah Carey, Pet Shop Boys, Robbie Williams, Jess Glynne, and Nile Rodgers. The cancellation marks a significant loss for the UK festival scene, with the organiser expressing hope that attendees will remember the happier moments from previous events.
