Actress Helen George, known for playing nurse Trixie Franklin in the BBC drama Call the Midwife, has revealed the tragic death of her boyfriend from leukaemia. The 42-year-old disclosed the loss for the first time on the Mystic Mates podcast, which she co-hosts with friend and actress Yvette Robinson.
Diagnosis and Filming Conflict
George explained that her boyfriend, whose identity remains undisclosed, was diagnosed with leukaemia shortly after they began dating. The diagnosis came as she was preparing to travel to the Bahamas to film the ITV show Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters. She recalled: "I had been dating someone who very suddenly got diagnosed with leukaemia. It was pretty serious from the start and he knew. The next day after that happened I had to fly out to the Bahamas to film the ITV shark documentary. I would call my best friend and sob down the phone about this lovely, beautiful man."
Clairvoyant Connection
George shared that her late boyfriend now communicates with her through clairvoyant readings. "He now comes through in my clairvoyancy readings – he's looking after me. I'd like to be a clairvoyant. I'd like to talk to dead people," she said. She recounted a recent reading: "I went to this clairvoyant last week and she said, 'This is your ex-boyfriend, and he died very suddenly after you started dating him. He's come into the room because he's not very happy about your situation.'"
She added: "I cried because it was wonderful to think this person, whom I didn't really know for that long, was there. He was angry that he'd left me looking for someone else and then finding someone else who wasn't suitable."
Personal Life Background
The revelation comes after reports that George split from businessman Dan Innes after seven months together. She had also been romantically linked to her Call the Midwife co-star Olly Rix, who played her on-screen husband. Prior to that, she was in a seven-year relationship with actor Jack Ashton, who played Rev Tom Hereward in the series, with whom she shares two young daughters, Wren Ivy and Lark. At the time of their split, George told The Mirror: "Some months ago, we separated. Our two beautiful girls remain the focus, and I respectfully ask for privacy for this next chapter."
