Man Utd to confirm fourth summer signing Cristian Orozco

Manchester United are poised to confirm their fourth transfer in the space of a few days, with an announcement thought to be imminent. It has been a busy week for the Red Devils, who kicked off their summer business by signing Andrey Santos from Chelsea. The young midfielder has penned a five-year contract at Old Trafford, keeping him there until the summer of 2031.

That deal was quickly followed up by the signing of Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa. United spent a combined total of £85 million on both players, who will strengthen their midfield ranks ahead of the new Premier League season. They have also added a goalkeeper in the form of Karl Darlow, who has joined on a free transfer following his exit from Leeds United.

Fourth signing imminent

It might not be long before a fourth signing is announced, with teenage midfielder Cristian Orozco set to be confirmed as a United player in the coming days. Orozco celebrated his 18th birthday on Monday, meaning United can now officially register him as a player. A deal was agreed to sign the youngster from Colombian outfit Fortaleza earlier this year.

He has already touched down in England to acclimatise and prepare himself for the move, with official confirmation expected to arrive imminently. The highly-rated defensive midfielder played a key role in helping Colombia to reach the final of the Under-17 South American Championship last year.

Ederson pursuit abandoned

It comes after United decided to walk away from their pursuit of Atalanta playmaker Ederson, who is no longer expected to move to Old Trafford this summer. A package worth around £39 million was agreed with the Italian side at the start of the summer window, at which point the deal looked like a formality.

Ederson completed some initial medical tests before travelling to the World Cup and there was nothing to suggest the move was at risk of collapse. However, after Brazil's surprise exit in the round of 16, the midfielder underwent another round of medical checks. United then decided to pivot on the deal, instead favouring moves for Tielemans and Santos.

It was initially reported that a move for Ederson could be resurrected later in the window, but it has since been claimed that United have no interest in reviving their pursuit. They could still sign another midfielder before the Premier League season gets underway, though, with the likes of Carlos Baleba and Manu Kone having been linked.
