Harry and Meghan Considered Public Apology to King Charles

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had allegedly been "considering a public apology" to King Charles in a bid to transform their relationship with the Royal Family, according to reports.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's connection with the Royal Family has seemed broken and tense since they chose to withdraw from their official royal roles and relocate to California. The couple now appear set for a UK return, though they have not officially confirmed the news themselves.

Reports of UK Return

Multiple outlets reported on Wednesday night that the couple's shock return has been in the pipeline for months and could be completed by the end of August. It is claimed his father King Charles was not told of the news during Harry's last UK visit. Instead, he only learned his son, daughter-in-law and two of his grandchildren were returning to the country last Sunday.

Nevertheless, the pair recently travelled with their two youngsters to reconnect with King Charles and Queen Camilla in the UK, indicating they might be making progress towards healing the rift. Reports now suggest that Prince Harry and his spouse could be contemplating issuing a public apology.

Insider Revelations on Apology

Journalist Rob Shuter revealed on his Substack that several sources informed his online publication, Naughty But Nice, that there have been earnest conversations about whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should release a public apology to help repair their bond with King Charles and the Royal Family.

"This isn't about Harry and Meghan admitting they were wrong about everything," one insider told Naughty But Nice. "It's about acknowledging that the past five years have caused enormous pain. The debate now is over what an apology should say-and, just as importantly, what it shouldn't," the insider continued.

Healing at Highgrove House

According to Naughty But Nice, citing sources, advisers believe this recent family meeting at Highgrove House provided a chance for healing between Prince Harry and Markle and King Charles. Nevertheless, the sources acknowledged that mending the damaged relationship will require more than confidential discussions.

"Everyone agrees trust has to be rebuilt," another source told Naughty But Nice. "The challenge is finding language that gives the King the respect he wants without forcing Harry and Meghan to walk back every interview, documentary, or page of Spare."

Insiders revealed to the publication that multiple versions of a possible apology statement have been considered. It wouldn't address every contentious issue from recent years, but would instead concentrate on expressing remorse for the strained relationship.

"An apology doesn't have to be a surrender," a palace source told Naughty But Nice. "It's an acknowledgment that this family feud went too far. Charles wants peace-but he also wants respect. This could be the first real step toward both."
