Foo Fighters have left a glowing verdict on Liverpool after completing two historic shows at Anfield Stadium on June 25 and 27, 2026. The American rock band delivered three-hour sets packed with their biggest hits, enduring record-breaking UK temperatures and welcoming fans on stage.
Band's Social Media Tribute
After the dust settled, the band took to Instagram to share a video compilation of both gigs with the caption: "Another epic night in Liverpool!!!" The post highlighted the band's affection for the city, following frontman Dave Grohl's on-stage declaration: "Liverpool is f***ing awesome."
Historic Anfield Performances
The shows marked the first time Foo Fighters performed at the home of Liverpool FC. However, Dave Grohl previously joined Sir Paul McCartney on stage at Anfield in 2008 during Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture, performing renditions of "Band On The Run" and "Back In The USSR."
Memorable Moments
Guitarist Chris Shiflett spoke openly about his interest in becoming a tourist during the band's stay. The gigs saw thousands of fans brave some of the hottest days on UK record. During the final show, Grohl addressed the crowd emotionally: "I'm going to be real with you. I wish every day was exactly like this. You guys are so f***ing awesome. Thank you so much. But I kind of have a feeling that it's just this place and these people. I don't think anywhere else is like this. I think it means we might need to come back. I've got a plan."
Band Background
Foo Fighters were formed by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl after Kurt Cobain's death in 1994. Initially a solo recording project, the band expanded into a full lineup ahead of their first live performances in 1995.
