Prince William and Princess Catherine were reportedly taken aback by the news of Prince Harry's relationship with Meghan Markle, with the couple said to have reacted with stunned surprise. Harry began dating Meghan in 2016, and their engagement followed just over a year later. In his 2023 memoir Spare, Harry recounted the moment he informed his brother and sister-in-law about his new relationship, noting that they seemed to sense "something was going on" when they met for dinner.
Harry's Casual Revelation
According to Harry, he "casually mentioned that there was... a new woman in my life," prompting curiosity from William and Catherine. They responded with a three-word question: "Who is she?" Harry admitted he initially wanted to "keep it a secret" before sharing more details. He told them: "She's an actress. 'Oh?' She's American. 'Oh.' On a show called Suits."
A Surprising Connection
Harry then revealed that William and Catherine recognized Meghan, telling him they were "regular - nay, religious - viewers" of Suits. Harry added: "All this time I'd thought Willy and Kate might not welcome Meg into the family, but now I had to worry about them hounding her for an autograph."
Upcoming UK Visit
Meghan and Harry, who now reside in California, are scheduled to visit the UK next month with their two children. However, due to the ongoing royal rift, it remains unlikely that they will meet with Catherine, William, and their three children. King Charles has reportedly offered the couple accommodation at a royal residence, with speculation about a private reunion with his two youngest grandchildren.
