Former TOWIE star Ferne McCann has been unveiled as the newest official patron of Little Havens Children's Hospice in Essex. The 34-year-old mother of two visited the hospice last year and supported its 'Make Your Mark' Christmas appeal. Now, she has taken on a formal role to help raise awareness of the hospice and the vital care it provides to families across the county.
A Moving Visit
Little Havens, based in Thundersley and part of Havens Hospices, delivers specialist care and support for babies, children, and young people living with complex or incurable conditions. McCann, who also attended the Havens Gala Ball at the weekend, told the Mirror: 'I am incredibly proud and excited to become a Patron of Little Havens. After visiting last year, I saw firsthand the incredible work they do.'
She added: 'Meeting the amazing staff, children, and their families was such a moving experience. The care, compassion, and warmth of the hospice really stayed with me; it's something I will never forget.'
Emotional Connection
Clearly emotional, McCann said: 'As a parent, it really hit home for me. I know just how precious every single moment with your children is, and seeing how Little Havens provides such a safe, supportive, and loving environment for children with incurable conditions and their families is truly special.'
McCann, who shares daughters Finty, 2, with fiancé Lorri Haines, and Sunday, 8, from a previous relationship, continued: 'I am so excited to begin my role as Patron, to help raise awareness of the amazing work Little Havens does, spend more time with the families, and support the charity in as many ways as I can. Every family deserves the kind of care and support that Little Havens provides, and I'm proud to stand alongside them in making every day count.'
Creating Precious Memories
In her role as patron, McCann will continue to support the charity's fundraising efforts and visit the hospice, spending quality time with children and their families, creating precious memories along the way. During a visit last November, she said: 'Being an Essex girl and just up the road, I know about the incredible work Little Havens does and the support they provide for so many families and children in need in our community. Walking in, I was struck by the joy, laughter, and happiness here; it's such a warm, welcoming, and fun place. It's been a night that I will never forget, getting the chance to talk just mother to mother made me emotional thinking of my two girls at home.'
Thanks to the support of McCann and others, Little Havens can raise awareness of the free, vital care it provides, ensuring that more families can access the help and support they need when they need it most. Every child facing a complex or incurable condition, and their families, deserve to receive the best possible care during the most challenging times of their lives.
