Eve Hewson Says U2 Father Bono Made Her See Fame Differently
Eve Hewson: Bono's Fame Took 'Pedestal' Off

Actress Eve Hewson has revealed that growing up with her rockstar father, U2 frontman Bono, has taken fame 'off of a pedestal' for her. The 34-year-old star of Bad Sisters and Steven Spielberg's new film Disclosure Day stated that desiring fame is 'the dumbest thing on the planet'.

Raised by Bono and her activist mother Ali Hewson, the Irish actress admitted she cannot comprehend why fame is so celebrated, particularly when it comes at the expense of privacy. Speaking to The Times, Hewson explained: 'I think it took (fame) off of a pedestal for me. It's the dumbest thing on the planet to want to be famous. You're losing all your privacy. You're putting yourself up for so much criticism. I don't know why we celebrate it so much.'

Hewson acknowledged that her family connections have made it easier to enter the film and television industry, but she often feels she has more to prove as a result. 'People really don't take you seriously. When you're going into castings and meeting with directors, you can really feel that. So you have to power through. It's definitely easier to get into the business, harder to be taken seriously. And that's fine.'
