A fire broke out on a mountainside near Caerphilly on Sunday evening, with the blaze bordering local people's homes. Residents in Senghenydd first reported seeing the fire at around 7pm.
Fire Under Control After Night Effort
The fire service reportedly worked all night to stop the blaze, which is now understood to be under control. Fire crews remain at the scene on Monday and have classified the blaze as a category 2 fire, meaning it is moderate in severity. They have advised all local residents to keep doors and windows closed.

A South Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "SWFRS is currently responding to an ongoing Category 2 wildfire in the Senghenydd area involving fern and moorland."
"A number of crews and officers, supported by specialist equipment, are in attendance."
"Residents affected by smoke are advised to keep windows and doors closed and follow public health guidance."
