A suspected knife attack at an East Lothian holiday park left families terrified after they heard "screaming and shouting". Emergency services rushed to Thurston Manor near Dunbar at approximately 12.30am on Sunday morning. Officers remained at the scene throughout the day on August 9, after a 21-year-old man was rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Verdant Leisure, who operate Thurston Manor, say they are assisting police with their investigation. Edinburgh Live understands a bladed weapon was involved in the assault, with officers conducting further enquiries to establish the complete circumstances. Holidaymakers at the park on Saturday claimed to have heard "loads of shouting and screaming".
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 0.25am on Sunday, 9 August, we received a report of man assaulted at a premises in the Innerwick area near Dunbar. Emergency services attended and the 21-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. Enquires are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
Witness accounts
Kenny MacAulay, who was staying at the holiday park with his family on Saturday night, told Edinburgh Live: "One of the other dad's was telling everyone to calm down before it happened, saying they've got family here and that. It was all quite horrific. There was a whole group of people just plying the drinks on Saturday night, you could see them tanning one after the other. We heard a lot of screaming and shouting. It's a right shame. We went down the next morning and there was police. CID, investigators going about. They were putting things in bags."

A representative for Thurston Manor stated: "We are aware of an isolated incident that took place in the early hours of Sunday morning between two guests. The safety of our guests is our number one priority and we are supporting police as they investigate the incident. We are unable to share any further information at this time."
