Former This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes has sidestepped a direct question about his biggest regret following the breakdown of his 14-year marriage to Ruth Langsford. The broadcaster, 66, was interviewed for the January edition of Mind Jump magazine, where he intentionally left the query 'What's your biggest regret?' unanswered.
A Hint at Work-Life Imbalance
While avoiding the specific question about regret, Holmes did reveal what he would change if he could turn back time. He stated, 'I'd try to find a better balance between my career and my personal life.' He added a piece of personal advice, admitting, 'Family comes first. Don't waste time on grudges or negativity, life is too short.'
The couple, who were a beloved fixture on ITV's This Morning for a decade until they were replaced in 2021, announced their separation 18 months ago. The split followed a period of reported arguments. Holmes has since moved on to a relationship with 44-year-old relationship counsellor Katie Alexander, whom he had met years prior. There is no suggestion he was unfaithful during his marriage.
Ruth Langsford Looks to the Future
Meanwhile, Ruth Langsford, 65, is believed to be single and has spoken candidly about her life post-split. In a recent interview with Woman and Home, she expressed openness to new love. 'I haven't been put off having a relationship. I haven't even been put off marriage,' she said, though she clarified she is not actively looking.
Langsford highlighted her growing independence, saying, 'I've realised I'm actually quite good on my own.' She described this new chapter as 'quite exciting' and 'not as scary as I thought.' However, sources suggest she will not consider a new relationship until her divorce from Holmes is legally finalised.
Ongoing Divorce and Financial Strains
The former couple, who share a 23-year-old son named Jack, have not yet officially divorced and are reportedly in dispute over their finances. A key point of contention is the future of their £2.5 million family home in Weybridge, which Ruth is apparently upset about having to sell.
Complicating matters for Holmes is a separate financial dispute with HMRC. He claims to have been 'ruined' by a row over his employment status during his time presenting This Morning between 2011 and 2015, arguing over whether he was a freelancer or a 'disguised employee' of ITV.
As both navigate their separate paths, Ruth has been focusing on self-care, recently celebrating her 65th birthday with friends in the Caribbean, while Eamonn reflects on the past and the balance he now wishes he had struck.
