A printing mix-up has resulted in early copies of the latest Bridget Jones novel containing a chunk of Sir David Jason's memoirs. About 40 pages of Sir David's autobiography, My Life, were mistakenly printed in Helen Fielding's Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, both released on the same day.
Publishers Vintage described the error as a 'Bridget moment' and said they were recalling the misprinted copies. 'A printing error has been detected in some of the very early copies of Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy,' a spokesman said. 'Copies printed on one day have given readers an accidental preview of David Jason's autobiography.'
Both books were published on 'Super Thursday', when publishers release their highest-priority titles for the Christmas market. Other books released that day include Jennifer Saunders' Bonkers: My Life in Laughs, Mo Farah's Twin Ambitions, and John Bishop's How Did All This Happen?
Mad About the Boy marks the final chapter of Bridget Jones's diaries. Some fans were already aware of a major plot twist after extracts were published in the Sunday Times Magazine, a reveal approved by Fielding but which shocked some readers.
