David Harbour Breaks Silence on Lily Allen's Album: 'It Wasn't My Experience'

David Harbour has spoken publicly for the first time about his ex-wife Lily Allen's revealing album West End Girl, which chronicles the breakdown of their marriage. The Stranger Things actor, who separated from the singer in early 2025 after marrying in 2020, addressed the album in a new interview with Variety.

“It was weird,” Harbour said. “I do believe that it is the privilege of every artist to use their experience to create art, and so I respect her for doing that.” He added that he values his private life and declined to elaborate further, stating: “I just won’t speak about that.”

When asked if he wanted to push back against claims made on the album, Harbour replied: “Stories are complex and that’s why I say I respect her creation of art to channel her experience. It wasn’t my experience.” Allen has described the album as “a mixture of fact and fiction”, with The Guardian calling it “an act of unstoppable personal exorcism”.

Harbour also addressed tabloid reports that his Stranger Things co-star Millie Bobby Brown had filed a bullying and harassment claim against him. He denied lasting tension, saying: “You’ll see more of me and Millie – 10 years wasn’t enough. There is a special bond there.” He described their disagreement as “a simple rupture-and-repair thing”.

Allen has followed the album with a concert tour and is in talks to create a play inspired by the songs. Harbour will next appear in Violent Night 2.
