Coronation Street star Georgia Taylor has said her former co-star Mollie Gallagher is making her and others feel 'braver' as they reunited during her return to Greater Manchester in her brand new role.
Last week, Mollie told fans she was 'home' as she headed back to Salford months after quitting the ITV soap after spending almost seven years in the role of Nina Lucas. Corrie fans will recall that at the end of August, the actress was seen saying her goodbyes on-screen, with Nina deciding to move to Whitby to start a dream job at an art gallery.
Return to Salford for stage debut
It comes after she arrived on-screen as the niece of cobbles legend Roy Cropper six-and-a-half years earlier in November 2019, when she was taken in by her uncle after her ill father, Richard Lucas, died. The exit was written into the programme after Mollie decided to leave Corrie so she could make her stage debut as Clarice Starling in the UK and Ireland tour of The Silence of the Lambs.
It was then last week that the likes of David Neilson, who plays Roy, Jane Danson, who plays Leanne Battersby, and Samia Longchambon, who stars as Maria Windass, were all seen heading to the Lowry theatre, a stone's throw from the famous Corrie set, to watch Mollie in her new role in a great show of support for the actress.
Georgia's heartfelt tribute
It was then over the weekend that Georgia, who Corrie fans will best know for playing Weatherfield's Toyah Battersby, made the trip herself to watch the play with friends. Catching up with Mollie afterwards, the soap star gushed on Instagram: "What an absolute joy to see our beautiful @mollie.gallagher_ smashing it in @sotlplay accompanied by the gorgeous @andrewjoshi_actor_ @bigfatpeach."
She added: "Mollie you’re encouraging all of us to be braver and I love you for it," and fans were quick to comment on the post, with many having seen Mollie in the iconic role themselves.
